Privacy Policy
This page explains what information SPEP (spepsafety.com) collects, why, and how it's handled. SPEP provides exam-preparation content for the CRSP, CRST, and CIH certifications — question banks, mock exams, calculation practice, and a study community.
Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (handled securely through Firebase Authentication — we never see or store your raw password ourselves).
Usage and progress data. We store your study progress, practice session results, and mock exam history so you can pick up where you left off and track improvement over time.
Payment information. Subscriptions and one-time purchases (like mock exam bundles) are processed by Stripe. SPEP never receives or stores your full card number — Stripe handles that directly, and we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded along with the entitlement it unlocks.
Community & feedback content. If you use the in-app study chat, your username and messages are visible to other signed-in users. If you submit a question report, testimonial, or cancellation feedback, that content is stored and may be reviewed internally.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, general navigation patterns, and aggregate behavior. These tools may use cookies or similar technology and collect standard technical data (browser type, approximate location, device type). We do not use this data to identify you personally.
How We Use Information
We use the information above to operate the platform: authenticating your account, saving your progress, processing payments and unlocking the content you've purchased, responding to support requests, and improving the site based on aggregate usage patterns. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Third-Party Services
SPEP is built on a small number of third-party services, each handling a specific function:
- Firebase (Google Cloud) — account authentication and data storage
- Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions and one-time purchases
- Google Analytics & Microsoft Clarity — site usage analytics
- Amazon Associates — some pages link to reference books via affiliate links; Amazon may use its own cookies when you click through, governed by Amazon's own privacy policy
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data on our behalf.
Cookies
SPEP uses cookies and similar local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and power the analytics tools described above. You can control or clear cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect features like staying signed in.
Data Retention & Deletion
We retain account and progress data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, email us at the address below and we'll process the request.
Children's Privacy
SPEP is intended for working professionals and exam candidates, not children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
